Hi, I'm Maya a fashion knitwear design graduate from Nottingham Trent University.
I have a particular interest in menswear silhouettes, combining traditional craftsmanship with subtle, comforting textures. Making conscious yarn choices aiming for natural fibres that enhance the feeling of comfort. In my final major project, I have taken inspiration from natural landscapes and my personal heritage using design as a tool to connect.
On my placement year, I gained new insight into the knitwear industry from both a design and manufacturing point of view. I continued to develop my design skills through producing trend and colour boards and assisting on designing and sampling of new products. Whilst gaining an understanding of the practicalities of running a business through building professional relationships, assisting in meetings and planning PR events.

‘Back to Glenbrack' is a menswear collection inspired by my family heritage.
Glenbrack is my grandfathers birthplace in Co. Galway on the west coast of Ireland. I have fond memories of Ireland through my grandfathers storytelling and visits as a young child. In this collection, I explored traditional workwear silhouettes whilst aiming to create a comforting collection through use of natural fibres and subtle textures. I have taken inspiration from old family photos and the natural landscape to inform colour and fabric choices.
