About me _____
Hello! I’m Natasha, a Fashion Design graduate from Nottingham Trent University.
Natasha is an innovative and ambitious designer specialising in cutting-edge sportswear, seamlessly blending functionality with style. Their academic journey, enriched by a placement year at Gymshark, enabled them to explore their creativity and challenge their limits. Overall, enhancing their design skills and understanding of the rapidly evolving industry.
During my final year at university, I developed a keen interest in survival clothing. Whilst observing a gap in the industry for womenswear alternatives, I set myself the challenge of addressing this need. I am extremely pleased with the project outcomes and feel I am only at the beginning of this exciting journey. As a result, I am eager to see where this will take me and look forward to contributing to the evolution of the industry.
Inspiration
_____
Inspiration _____
Exploring the urgency of the climate crisis and crafting solutions for extreme weather challenges.
In response to an unprecedently catastrophic future, I investigated the climate crisis and crafted survival garments for changing environments. This led to the launch of ‘1.1 Degrees’, a pioneering women’s collection highlighting the extent of the Earth’s warming above pre-industrial levels. Recognising a gap in women’s survival clothing, which I am eager to explore further, I decided 1.1 Degrees would redefine the boundaries, whilst prioritising functionality and not compromising on aesthetic appeal.
Research began with a dive into 19th Century Arctic explorers, examining the clothing they relied on whilst they endured the unforgiving Arctic conditions. Inspired by drawing comparisons with modern exploration and my personal expeditions. Aswell as insights from topographic maps of ascended mountains, particularly contour lines and elevation levels. My aim was to understand how apparel can go beyond its conventional role and transform into an essential survival apparatus.
