Fresh and new frontiers for fashion design were showcased by Northumbria University of this afternoon at Graduate Fashion Week 2016. Transpiring on the catwalk for womenswear was a collection of ultra feminine garments with a fusion of different cultures coming together to create an impression of east meets west and Caribbean heritage.

The primary colour palette for the womenswear collection was the prettiest pale pink reoccurring within experimental multicoloured vibrant prints. The pattern trended on the runway was from classic elegance to sporty chic and also taking on the injection of pinstripe for sharp clean cut tailoring was another prominence for both women's and menswear runway collection.

The menswear collections boasted influences of masculine urban street style with strong silhouettes using two tonal colours as a key trend through all the designers. The combination of contrasting fabrics and textures, displaying everything from leather to soft furs displayed an innovative creative direction among these young designers.
