We spoke with L’Oréal Professionnel’s Monica Teodoro about L’Oréal’s ongoing support of Graduate Fashion Week, what looks we should expect to see at the GFW 25th Anniversary and catwalk hair highlights from the past 25 years!
GFW: Thanks for chatting with us! Firstly, we’d like to know why L’Oréal Professionnel chooses to support the fashion graduates of GFW? Is supporting young creatives an important part of your ethos?
MT: L’Oréal Professionnel has always been a massive advocate of nurturing young talent and we are thrilled to be partnering yet again with Graduate Fashion Week. Fashion is part of our brand DNA; it is a natural fit for us to marry up the unrivalled talent among our elite salon network with future stars of the fashion industry.
GFW: This year marks Graduate Fashion Week’s 25th anniversary, can we expect particularly spectacular hair styling from L’Oreal Professionnel in honour of this special celebration?
MT: We are proud to working on such a special year, for GFW and I cannot wait to see the hair the session team will be producing this year. Backstage will be buzzing as we have 3 big talents whom will be directing the L’Oréal Professionnel Portfolio Session team, namely Luke Pluckrose from SAKS plus Andrea Daley and Lisa Rhead from Barbara Daley in Liverpool.
GFW: What products will we see featured on the catwalk this year?
MT: The tried and trusted backstage hero products such as L’Oréal Professionnel tecni.art Pli and Infinium to some show stopping new styling textures found in our new French Girl Hair range.
GFW: Any hair styling advice for our attendees? We’ve noticed a lot of braiding in the last year; do you think this trend will continue?
MT: Yes braiding has remained a strong trend and we also see this French girl “laissez-faire” look as the hair of the moment. We love the idea that brunettes are also having their moment again!
GFW: We’d love to know your Graduate Fashion Week highlight from the last 25 years? This can be fashion, hair styling or otherwise?
MT: It is very hard to pick one; for me is all about the thrill and pleasure of seeing a total look come together. Hair and fashion showcasing talent through a great partnership.
