On February the 8th 2018, Nottingham Trent Menswear design graduate and Tu scholarship winner Amy Vanderwal visited the Tu studio to introduce her new collection. The yet to be released collection features heavy prints, and large check’s continuing Amy’s punk theme, and colour palette from her graduate collection.

Amy’s winning collection at GFW17 presented a punk theme, with repeated use of denim, checked prints, contrasting stripes and unique construction and embroidery techniques.

Alongside winning the Tu Menswear scholarship, Amy was offered a place in GFW’s mentoring scheme, allowing her to have regular meetings with industry professional Oliver Spencer. Amy has had three scheduled meetings with Oliver over the process of designing her collection, and has found the mentoring scheme extremely insightful.

“MY MOST RECENT MEETING WAS TO SHOW OLI ALL OF MY DEVELOPED SAMPLES FOR MY COLLECTIONS FOR BOTH SPRING SUMMER AND AUTUMN WINTER. I WAS ABLE TO GET HIS FEEDBACK ON THE DEVELOPED PRODUCT AND TAKE AWAY HIS ADVICE IN ORDER TO FINALISE PRODUCT CHANGES. WE ALSO HAD A PR AND MARKETING SESSION, IN ORDER TO PROMOTE MY COLLECTION WHICH IS FIRST DUE TO LAUNCH IN LINE WITH GFW.”

We thoroughly look forward to the release of Amy’s AW18 range, and cannot wait to see the designs for her future collections.
