Today was judging day of the FatFace Graphic T-shirt Competition. With over a hundred entries there was a lot of fantastic work to be looked it. The judging panel consisted of esteemed Journalist, Hilary Alexander OBE and British designers Holly Fulton, Christopher Raeburn and Henry Holland.

The competition was open to BA students from Graduate Fashion Week member Universities. This was an exclusive competition for the chance for a student to win £500 prize money and £250 for the students winning university. Also the amazing opportunity to see the designed T-shirt go to retail and be endorsed by a leading designer.

The task was to design a T-shirt that is either fashion inspired or reflected the heritage of the brand. It was to be screen printed so it must fit the t-shirt panel and have some aspect of design pattern. Alongside this they had to submit a board of research alongside a final design for the crew neck tee, showing colour pallets and the print techniques.

Today we saw some amazing designs that all varied in print ideas and colours. There was that many excellent designs to pick from that the judges found it hard to narrow it down before deciding on a finalist. It is obvious that there are so many talented students from our partner universities and all hold such a great eye for detail and colour awareness, creating colour pallets that were complimentary to each other. Also holding a great awareness to appearance, ensuring there work was displayed in a professional manner.

The judging panel each got to select their own personal winner, meaning in total there was 4 finalists. The finalists will then be invited to the Best Of Catwalk show at Graduate Fashion Week on Wednesday 6th June. The t-shirts will be revealed on the catwalk and the winners will be given a framed copy of the made t-shirt, which will be signed by the Judging panel.
