Graduate Fashion Week alumnus from 2017, Daniel Rynne has finalised his collection for Debenhams, where he was working for the past year. The brand, known for supporting new design talent, announced Daniel’s ‘pop-up’ Autumn Winter 18 collection in November 2018.

Whilst at The Arts University in Bournemouth, Daniel has won Debenhams Menswear Award during GFW17 and since then he became part of the menswear design team for the brand. Apart from contributing to main collections, the young designer had a chance to translate his graduate collection into a commercial line for Debenhams.

“IT WAS VERY IMPORTANT FOR ME THAT EVERYTHING WAS FUNCTIONAL AND WAS THERE FOR A REASON.”

DANIEL RYNNE

Launching for AW18, Rynne presents a contemporary take on classic menswear silhouettes; creating a limited-edition range that offers the perfect balance of cutting-edge street style and affordable luxury. With prices starting at £30, key pieces include a deconstructed parka with an integral gilet, wide-fit tapered chinos, band collar shirts and baker boy caps. The range combines utilitarian fabrics in neutral sand and khaki tones with meticulous attention to detail seen through the use of fastenings, garment washes, reversed fabric bases and coated hand-dyed fabrics to give a modern twist on the traditional workwear inspired garments.

While working on this collection, Daniel also collaborated with traditional British shoemaker brand, Loake. This allowed the designer to put his handwriting carried through to footwear with mismatch panelled leather brogues and boots. As Rynne highlights during Instagram Takeover for GFW, the footwear and accessories are the statements pieces pulling the collection together.

The collection is inspired by Dorothea Lange and her imagery of the great depression in 1930’s rural America. Rynne told us: “It was very important for me that everything was functional and was there for a reason”. This manifesto is clearly represented in the whole collection, where every pocket and every button has its own argumentation.

We are always proud to see our graduates becoming members of fashion industry. Daniel Rynne’s rapid success proves there is plenty of work for imaginative and creative designers in commercial brands. Only after a year of graduation the young designer is able to sell his collection in 5 UK stores and online. Congratulations!
