Q&A
BOUX AVENUE LINGERIE & SWIMWEAR AWARD | BETSAN EVANS | DE MONTFORT UNIVERSITY
HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE NAMED AN AWARD WINNER?
It feels incredible to be named the winner of the Boux Avenue Graduate Fashion Week Lingerie and Swimwear award. It was a great way to end my time at university, receiving a First Class Honours degree was amazing but winning this award was the icing on the cake. It is such an honour to have your work recognized by industry experts such as Boux Avenue.
WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING SINCE GFW?
Since Graduate Fashion Week, I spent a month traveling around Thailand and Vietnam. In September, I will be moving to New York for 5 months to work with the Calvin Klein Underwear design team, which I am very excited about.
WHAT ARE YOUR HOPES FOR THE FUTURE?
In the future, I hope to have gained a number of years' experience in the field of lingerie or swimwear design with some of the leading brands in Intimate Apparel design and manufacturing.
HAS BEING INVOLVED WITH GFW LED TO ANYTHING ELSE?
My involvement with GFW has been amazing in terms of employment. It has lead to press features and as a direct consequence I have received emails regarding job opportunities with brands from all over the world.
WHEN DID YOU FIRST HEAR ABOUT GFW?
The first time I heard about graduate fashion week was when I was researching new designers for a textiles project in secondary school. I had always been interested in contemporary fashion and GFW promoted the emerging talent within the industry. I was very excited to hear about the introduction of the Boux Avenue Lingerie and Swimwear Award and hope that this is something that will continue to feature each year to promote and support emerging lingerie and swimwear designers.
