I'm Luce, a 2025 fashion graduate from Norwich University Arts.

Lucy Perry, known as Luce to most, is a Designer and creative, specialising in custom wear and surface detailing. Lucy is a fun-loving, bold designer who loves to try new skills and combine them with the tried & true, creating a harmony of new and old within her designs.

"I came to university with the intention of learning more about what I love, building on those skills I had learned through practice from the mere age of 2 years old. My mum let me help her hand-sew a finger puppet mouse, and from that day, I've fallen in love with my specialism. Progressing from a 1940s hand-turn Singer Sewing machine to the lovely industrial machines I used while studying is just one of the huge leaps I have made in my art form.

I grew up as the eldest in a large extended family. I was 8 years old carrying and caring for my baby cousin who I love with my whole heart. But after noticing my behaviour patterns did not reflect those of my younger family, I started to wonder if being the eldest made a difference to me as a person. I started to think through my entire childhood, remembering feeling conflicting emotions around my younger cousins and brother doing similar things to me.

These emotions and the nostalgia of "going back in time" made me think of other areas of my life where I felt similar, or moments in history that may have meant the people involved felt the same. Looking back to my schooling, at age 12 being told you are "the wrong type of artist" to take GCSE Art felt like a kick in the teeth, but the moment clicked when I realised Monet had been ridiculed for the same thing 200 years earlier, who I was coincidentally studying at the time.
