Megan Williams is a fashion photographer based in the UK.

Megan Williams, featured in Sunny Bank Mills 'Ones to Watch 2025' Exhibition, expects to graduate from Leeds Arts University in 2025 after studying Fashion Photography. Her editorial work has been featured in Contributor, KNUCKLE and Dreck Magazine.

I am inspired by anything and everything. From the smallest details in my everyday life to deeper, emotional happenings that have led me to use my creativity as an outlet. During my final year, I found my enjoyment for art direction blossom. I create in-depth concepts that have personal connections, yet I make my work more digestible with subtle visual hints of satire. Within my work, I focus on frustration, and one aspect of that is the frustration my generation (Gen Z) has with the current (awful) state of our government.

My inspiration comes from childhood chaos and how my mum always cheered me on <3

My brain is always spiralling from one thought to the next, and my narratives often reflect complex personal experiences that I make more digestible by channelling the creative freedom I had as a little girl. Whether that be through turning my images into jigsaw puzzles or hand-painting my backdrops. During my final project, I researched philosophical theories such as Michael Foucault's belief that power can't be gained, instead, it is a reaction to other actions.

This ideology then led me to visually explore more complex narratives in regards to power differences. For example, my project 'Raised On Rage' explored how young boys raised on rage can easily slip into the alt-right pipeline. Exploring this through the visual link to the ‘3 British Lions’, where I handcrafted lions' manes to play on the idea that the ideologies we are exposed to as our minds (manes) are still developing, have a permanent imprint on our development.
