Tailor and Menswear Designer
Combining Bespoke Tailoring with considered design, William George channels a keen interest in men's style to produce unique, hand produced pieces, intent on empowering and uplifting their wearer. Quality, practicality and comfort and are paramount to the design process and influence every decision from conception, to creation and finish.
Continually inspired by the past, his work references iconic menswear design pieces, exploring and expanding upon their shape, form and function. His collection utilises bespoke tailoring techniques learnt whilst undertaking his degree, and his internship on London's historic Savile Row, ensuring the pieces are made to last a lifetime. This commitment to a timeless silhouette emphasises his keen interest in sustainability, rejecting the idea of trend-based buying.

Archival images of my father during his career prompted a questioning of masculinity and ownership
What would the uniform of "masculinity" look like? How does it feel to wear and how are men perceived based on their styling and clothing choices? These questions formed the basis of the collection, informing my decisions along the way. My graduate collection was heavily influenced by the design prowess of 20th Century Public Service uniform. The shapes, silhouettes, colours and hardware all invoked a sense of rigidity and restriction upon the wearer.
Subverting this rigid masculinity through fabric and styling choices, "Strength in Numbers" creates a new masculine uniform for those who feel typical masculinity is out of reach. The collection acts as an armour for the wearer empowering them to take up space. The collection references the ultimate menswear symbol, The Neck Tie, inspiring the shapes and motifs that feature heavily, in an attempt to further rearrange and recycle typical symbols of men's style.
