About me _____
Darci Wilson is a University For The Creative Arts graduate, graduating with a degree in fashion design, who specialises in womenswear.
I draw inspiration from the creative arts, particularly sculptures, architecture, and film. As well as looking for ways to connect nature to my concepts. I have a keen interest in fabric manipulation which has been a key part of my designs throughout this degree, some of these being pleats, pin tucks, braids and embroidery. I also like to experiment with prints and dying fabric to create new unique textures and fabrics for my collections. This portfolio showcases my journey as a designer and my continuous exploration of how fashion can serve as a reflection of art, emotion and identity.

Inspiration _____
My inspiration for my graduate collection was the concept of Femme Fatale.
For this concept I looked to less stereotypical ideas of femme fatale, looking at powerful women in films and female pioneers, particularly Amelia Earhart. The nicknamed ‘femme fatale’ firefly was also a source for inspiration for this collection as I found beauty in the colours and shape of the firefly wings. I also got inspiration from the black widow spider leading me to further research spiderwebs which becomes a key point in my textile developments.
