FACE Excellence Prize
The FACE excellence prize makes visible the spectrum of Black, Brown, and minoritised excellence within a framework of diverse creativity. The aim of the FACE Excellence Prize is to amplify a broad and limitless within a white-centric system with a prize that recognises their unique contribution to style, culture, fashion, and society.
Open to all Global Ethnic Majority (GEM)—Black, Brown, and minority ethnic backgrounds—final year students on any BA fashion-related course in the UK and internationally that can include, but is not limited to, journalism, marketing, photography, communication, fashion desi gn, textile design, hair and make-up design, styling, and creative direction.
For this prize students must self-nominate. Tutors are not required to be involved in the selection of student work but can encourage the year group to enter and promote the prize opportunity.
Criteria
A selection from the student’s final project must be submitted. Either:
A film of no longer than 59 secs on Instagram detailing the ideas and outcomes of your project with the hashtag #FACEExcellence. Students will not be judged upon the technical quality of the film submission but its content and the way in which ideas, personality, and mood are communicated as part of the film presentation.
A written statement of no more than 500 words detailing the ideas and outcomes of your project. An initial digital submission of no more than 15 pages for the nomination shortlisting. The full physical body of work/samples will be displayed for the final judging session. The entry can be a maximum of 10 MB. illustrating the final project and a supporting statement.
The submission deadline is Monday 18th May 2026, 18:00. The Shortlist Announcement is Thursday 28th May 2026 and winners will be announced at Graduate Fashion Week 2026.
