MAXXAM Capsule Collection Textile Design Competition

About

Back for its second year, MAXXAM challenges you to design a trend led womenswear S/S 2027 capsule collection utilising the famous seamless MAXXAM Textile creating one size clothing invented in 1983 Rosemary Moore after graduating from the RCA .

Create a timeless capsule collection of athleisure wear focused on swimwear predominantly with interchangeable items. The collection must be multipurpose interchangeable designed to take the wearer from day trips, to the beach, gym, bar and evening.

Brief

You can suggest new stripe variables, jacquards and surface effects for jersey applications which we could develop for the three finalists. Do study our existing textiles as a guideline. Sustainability should always be a key consideration as MAXXAM as this is a key element of the brand heading towards creating fabrics for the future which will offer true circularity from water waste to fibre to fabric to swimwear then back to swimwear. So please consider styling with a timeless look just like MAXXAM Crinkle itself. Fabric off cuts and back to source for upcycling too into suitable accessories for your capsule wardrobe.

We are looking for you to create a professional digital design portfolio that communicates a range. This will show examples of trend prediction, your design handwriting through design development, attention to detail and your reference points to get you to the final looks.

  • This Brief is open to all second and final year students from all fashion-based degree courses at Graduate Fashion Week Member Universities in the UK and internationally.
